Godspell
August 16th & 17th

The Friends of Coleman Memorial Park Present a Steitz City Players Production of GODSPELL, Friday & Saturday August 16th & 17th at 6:30 pm. Rain dates, 23rd & 24th. To be held at Veterans Memorial Amphitheater, 1400 Maple Street, Lebanon, PA 17046. Admission by donation.

Synopsis: At the behest of John the Baptist (David Haskell), young men and women forsake their jobs and take up the mantle of Jesus Christ (Victor Garber) -- becoming his disciples -- in a musical retelling of the Gospel of Matthew set in modern-day New York City. Using song and dance, the apostles traverse the city, spreading Christ's message of love and tolerance as the time moves ever closer to his betrayal at the hands of Judas (also played by David Haskell) and, ultimately, his crucifixion.

Open-Call Auditions for ALL GODSPELL ROLES will be held: 5/18 + 5/19, 4 PM to 6 PM. All persons should prepare 16-32 bars of an up-tempo, contemporary theatre song. In addition to this requirement, you are welcome to provide an additional 16-32 bar excerpt from any song of any style or background. An accompanist will be provided, so please provide clearly marked sheet music on white paper. Please be prepared to provide your resume and your conflict calendar.

Our Mission:

Theatre Arts for Everyone!

Steitz City Players strives to create relevant performing arts experiences to Educate, Entertain, and Engage audiences across the City of Lebanon, PA and beyond.

About Us:

Theatre, at its heart, is an investigation of the human experience. It brings together many different kinds of people, from many different walks of life, with many different perspectives, in unity behind a common goal - show!

Every aspect of a production is vital to that common investigation, from set design and prop work, to costume design and choreography, to rehearsals and pit orchestras - many moving parts come together in unity to communicate a message that affects change both locally and in the world at large.

Community

We believe that theatre cannot exist in a vacuum. Theatre is bigger than ego, it is bigger than personal edification, and it is bigger than the status quo. Theatre, when it’s at its best, should be a gathering place - where time, talents and skills come into focus for the common purpose of investigating the human experience.

Creativity

When meaningful new ideas, progressiveness and imagination are championed, walls fall down, gaps are made smaller, and lines disappear. Rather than thinking “outside of the box,” we dream of having no box at all - we dream of a world without limitation. It’s all about perspective.

Education

At our personal cores, we are all life-long lerners. And if we areen’t doing everthing that we can to spread the learning value of theatre arts, we aren’t really living into our true purpose. At heart, we are all teaching artists. From workshops and master classes, to design seminars and round-tables, we will strive to make low-cost to no-cost educational resources available to our entire community.

Integrity & Professionalism

For us, theatre is a vehicle to affect change in our local community; it isn’t about individual needs or personalities - ti’s about building something significant for the greater good. Although our goal isn’t about making a profit, persay, we commit to bringing our absolute best into SCP; our time, our talents, our humility… These are the things that will set us apart.
